Taylor School District Virtual Day Emergency Plan 2025-2026

Posted Date: 9/25/25 (1:00 PM)

Good Afternoon,

The State of Michigan updated the law to provide districts with more flexibility once “Act of God” days are used up. In the past, when a district exceeded the allowable days, those days had to be made up at the end of the year—often extending the school year into the summer. The new guidance now allows districts to use up to 15 Virtual Days in unforeseen circumstances.

As a district, we are committed to always using “Act of God” days first before moving to a Virtual Day. Snow days are a special part of childhood, and we believe they provide a much-needed break in the middle of a long winter.

With that in mind, we are pleased to share that we will once again be implementing the Taylor School District Virtual Day Plan, which will only be used once “Act of God” days have been exhausted. Please see the attached infographics that outline how this plan will work.

Thank you for your understanding, and while we sincerely hope we won’t need to put this plan into action, we are confident that it provides a strong option to ensure learning continues if the need arises.

Sincerely,

Shawna Maynard
